Re: FIK Referee Seminar for the American Zone (FY 2010)
We are pleased to announce that the FIK Referee Seminar for the American Zone will be held
in March 2011 in Chicago Illinois. We appreciate the All United States Kendo Federation
(AUSKF) for their dedication to make this event a success. You are cordially requested to
recommend applicants from your organization by using the attached application sheet. We
would like you to return the application sheet by February 4, 2011 (Fri.) to kurose@kendo.or.jp
and yazawa@kendo.or.jp. The details of the seminar are as follows.
1. Date: March 19 & 20, 2011 (Saturday & Sunday)
2. Place: Golf Main Park District – Feldman Gym

3. Accommodation Reservations:
Concerning the accommodation for the participants from your organization, you are asked to
make the reservation for them by yourself.
Hotels recommended by AUSKF are shown below. When you make a reservation, please make
mention the group name “AUSKF” or “All United States Kendo Federation” then the special
rate is applied for your stay on March 18, 19 and 20.

4. Transportation
Both hotels are approximately 15 Km from the Chicago O’Hare International Airport and takes
Approximately 20 minutes by taxi. (US$35.00 – 40.00)
For the participants outside of U.S.A., AUSKF will arrange the transportation from the airport
to the hotel. So, please inform the below of your flight schedule.

5. Schedule outline:
March 19 (Sat)
March 20 (Sun)
The seminar starts at 9:00AM both days and it is planned to end around noon on the second day.
6. Participants expected:
・A member of the FIK affiliated organization in principle.
・Kendo 5-Dan or above in principle and to be engaged in regular Kendo practice (4-Dan
holders are accepted as well if he/she desires.)
・No age limitation
・5 or more participants from one FIK affiliated organization are preferable.
・The candidates for the WKC referees are requested to participate in this seminar.
・The attached application sheet covers up to 12 applicants, but this does not mean
limit. Please duplicate and use it more than 12.
* Applicants are requested not to be absent other than unavoidable reasons.
* Please take Referee Uniform
7. Expenses:
The participants bear their expenses for travel, transportation, accommodations and
meals. The box lunch on March 19 will be provided for 10.00 US Dollars.
Cost for welcome party is US$29.00 for candidates.
8. Others: (1) Three instructors will be sent from International Kendo Federation.
(2) Interpretation (Japanese, English) will be provided during the seminar.
